If you are experiencing a problem that is not listed in this chart, see your John Deere dealer for service.

When you have checked all the possible causes listed and you are still experiencing the problem, see your John Deere dealer.


IF	CHECK
Engine Will Not Start	Fuel tank is empty.
	Loose or corroded wiring.
	Dirty fuel tank cap vents.
	Disconnected or dirty spark plug.
	Stale fuel.
	Fuel shut-off valve closed.
	Starter faulty.
Engine Starts But Will Not Keep On Running	Faulty wiring.
	Faulty spark plug.
	Dirty fuel tank cap vents.
Engine Will Not Run With Throttle In The Slow Position	Faulty spark plug.
	Dirty fuel tank cap vents.
	Stale or dirty fuel.


Engine Misses Or Surges	Choke knob not in the OFF position.
	Loose electrical connections.
	Faulty spark plug.
	Stale fuel.
	Dirty shroud and fins.
	Engine not warm.
Engine Overheats	Dirty shroud and fins.
	Low engine oil.
	Operate snowblower at a slower travel speed.
Engine Loses Power	Low engine oil.
	Faulty spark plug.
	Stale fuel.
	Dirty shroud and fins.
	Operate snowblower at a slower travel speed.
Engine Knocks	Wrong fuel.
Engine Knocks	Operate snowblower at a slower travel speed.
Snowblower Vibrates Too Much	Loose hardware/parts.
Snowblower Vibrates Too Much	Damage to snowblower.
Snowblower Will Not Move When You Engage Traction Drive	Faulty traction drive belt.
	Faulty drive chain.
	Faulty friction wheel.
	Friction wheel adjustment not correct.
Speed Selector Lever Hard To Move	Lever linkage not lubricated.
Snowblower Will Not Blow Snow	Cable needs adjustment.
	Chute is plugged.
	Auger drive belt needs adjustment.
	Travel speed too fast.
	Object lodged in auger.
	Broken shear bolt.
