Servicing Your Machine

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Operating in extreme conditions may require more frequent service intervals:

· Engine components may become dirty or plugged when operating in extreme heat, dust or other severe conditions.

· Engine oil and spark plugs may lose efficiency if vehicle is operated constantly at slow or low engine speeds or with frequent short trips.


Please use the following timetables to perform routine maintenance on your machine.

Before Each Use

· Check fuel level.

· Check engine oil level.

· Clean air intake screen.

· Check safety systems.

After First 5 Hours

· Lubricate front wheel spindles.

Break In (After First 25 Hours of Operation)

· Change engine oil and filter.

· Check/tighten loose hardware.

· Check transmission oil level.

· Check coolant level, on liquid cooled engines.

Break In (After First 50 Hours of Operation)

· Change engine oil and filter.

Annually or at Hours of Operation (whichever comes first)

· Check/tighten loose hardware.

· Check/clean battery.

· Clean/service air cleaner elements.

· Change engine oil and filter.

· Inspect and regap spark plugs.

Every Two Years (Or At Hours Of Operation, Whichever Comes First)

· Replace fuel filter.

· Change coolant, if liquid cooled engine.

50 Hours

· Check/adjust tire pressure.

· Check transmission oil level.

· Lubricate front wheel spindles.

· Clean/service air cleaner elements, (service more frequently under dusty conditions).

100 Hours

· Check/clean battery.

· Change engine oil and filter.

· Inspect and regap spark plugs.

200 Hours

· Replace fuel filter.

· Check radiator and hoses.

500 Hours

NOTE: See your John Deere dealer for these services.

· Check carburetor adjustment.

· Check engine speeds.

· Check and adjust valve clearance.

· Check fuel lines.
