c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Engine exhaust fumes can cause sickness or death. - If it is necessary to run an engine in an enclosed area, use an exhaust pipe extension to remove the fumes. - Always try to work in a well ventilated area. - Do not store machine with fuel in tank in a building where fumes may reach an open flame or spark. - Allow engine to cool before storing in ay enclosure. - Remove the battery and store it in a cool dry place where it will not freeze, and where children cannot reach it.

Preparing Engine for Storage

1. Change engine oil when engine is warm. (See Changing Engine Oil And Filter in the Service - Engine section.)

2. Crank the engine five or six times to distribute oil.

3. Clean the engine and engine area.

4. Loosen alternator belt.

5. Service air cleaner.

6. Close fuel shut-off valve. (See Using Fuel Shut-Off Valve in the Operating section.)

Storing Machine

1. Remove the battery (if equipped):

· Clean it. Check the electrolyte level. (See Checking Battery Electrolyte Level in the Service Electrical section.)

· Charge the battery. (See Charging The Battery in the Service Electrical section.)

· Store the battery in a cool, dry place where it will not freeze.

2. Repair worn or damaged parts. Replace parts if necessary. Tighten loose hardware.

3. Wash the machine.

4. Paint scratched or chipped areas to prevent rust.

5. Lubricate grease points.

6. Apply multi-purpose grease on exposed hydraulic cylinder rods.

7. Move hydraulic levers back and forth to release pressure.

8. Put blocks or stands under tractor to take weight off tires. Let 1/3 of air out of tires.

9. Store the vehicle in a dry, protected place. If unit is stored outside, put a waterproof cover over it.

Removing Machine From Storage

1. Check tire pressure and fill tires with air. (See Checking Tire Pressure in Service Miscellaneous section.)

2. Remove blocks and supports from under tractor.

3. Fill fuel tank. Open fuel shut-off valve.

4. Check battery electrolyte level. Charge battery if necessary. Install battery.

5. Lubricate all grease points.

6. Check transmission and engine oil levels.

7. Run the engine 5 minutes with no engine load.

8. Be sure all shields and guards are in place.
