Using Troubleshooting Chart

If you are experiencing a problem that is not listed in this chart, see your John Deere dealer for service.

When you have checked all the possible causes listed and you are still experiencing the problem, see your John Deere dealer.

47-Inch Snowblower

If

Check

Rotor or Impeller Will Not Turn

ˇ Replace broken shear bolt.

Tractor Rear Wheels Slip

ˇ Install two rear wheel weights.

ˇ Install chains on each drive tire. (See Tractor Operator's manual for instructions.)

ˇ Add calcium chloride solution to drive tires

Snowblower Operation is Erratic

ˇ Tighten drive chain.

ˇ Lubricate snowblower.

ˇ Replace or repair bent scraper blade(s).

ˇ Reverse or replace badly worn scraper blade(s).

ˇ Adjust runners for conditions.


51-Inch Rotary Broom

If

Check

Materials pile up in front of broom

ˇ Travel Slower.

ˇ Run engine at full throttle.

ˇ Make more than one pass.

ˇ Adjust brush higher.

ˇ Increase broom angle.

Brush Wears Unevenly

ˇ Inflate tires correctly. Especially rear tires so tractor frame is level..

ˇ Adjust brush height on each side.

Driveline Wears Fast

ˇ Travel Slower.

ˇ Make more than one pass in deep, heavy materials.

ˇ Don't ram piles of material.

ˇ Support wire is under PTO shaft during operation.


54-Inch Front Blade

If

Check

Hydraulic cylinder hoses difficult to connect or disconnect

ˇ Stop engine and move hyrdraulic control levrs back and forth several times to relieve pressure.

Blade will not angle correctly

ˇ Hydraulic hoses not connected to tractor couplers correctly.

Blade will not raise or lower correctly

ˇ Hydraulic hoses not connected to tractor couplers correctly.

Blade will not clean loose materials such as snow or slush from surface

ˇ Install optional rubber squeegee. (See your John Deere dealer.)

Tractor/Front Mower drive wheel slippage

ˇ Install tire chains and/or calcium chloride solution in tires. (See your John Deere dealer.)

Blade gouging holes or digging too deep when clearing or leveling

ˇ Adjust skid shoes and/or move hydraulic control lever FORWARD to FLOAT posistion.

Blade penetrates too much and will not float over uneven surfaces or obstacles

ˇ Unlock blade from RIGID position and move hydraulic control lever FORWARD to FLOAT posistion.

Blade will not penetrate when digging of operating on hard soil surfaces

ˇ Lock blade in RIGID position and operate at a slow travel speed.

ˇ Adjust skid shoes and move hydraulic control lever out of FLOAT posistion.

Tractor engine lugs down under certain conditions

ˇ Blade not angled correctly.

Driveline Wears Fast

ˇ Lock blade in RIGID position and operate at a slow travel speed.

ˇ Adjust skid shoes and move hydraulic control lever out of FLOAT posistion.
