Checking Tire Pressure

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Explosive separation of a tire and rim parts can cause serious injury or death:

Do not attempt to mount a tire without the proper equipment and experience to perform the job.

Always maintain the correct tire pressure. Do not inflate the tires above the recommended pressure. Never weld or heat a wheel and tire assembly. The heat can cause an increase in air pressure resulting in a tire explosion. Welding can structurally weaken or deform the wheel.

When inflating tires, use a clip-on chuck and extension hose long enough to allow you to stand to one side and NOT in front of or over the tire assembly.

Check tires for low pressure, cuts, bubbles, damaged rims or missing lug bolts and nuts.

1. Check tires for damage.

2. Check tire pressure with an accurate gauge.

3. Add air, if necessary.

Tightening Wheel Hardware

Front Wheel Bolts

· Remove dust cap (A).

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Overtightening of front wheel bolt may result in bearing damage.


· Tighten flanged front cap screws (B) to 90 N·m
(66 lb-ft).

· Install dust cap.

Rear Wheel Nuts

· Tighten rear drive wheel nuts (C) alternately to 88 N·m (65 lb-ft).

Grease

Use the following grease based on the air temperature range. Operating outside of the recommended grease air temperature range may cause premature failures.

ONLY use a quality grease in this application. DO NOT mix any other greases in this application. DO NOT use any BIO-GREASE in this application.

The following John Deere grease is PREFERRED:

NON-CLAY HIGH-TEMPERATURE EP GREASE®-JDM J13E4, NLGI Grade 2.

Other greases may be used if above preferred John Deere grease is not available, provided they meet the following specification:

John Deere Standard JDM J13E4, NLGI Grade 2.

Lubricating Front King Pins

NOTE: In extreme conditions lubrication should be done more frequently.

1. Park vehicle on hard, level surface.

2. Turn the key switch to the OFF "0" position.

3. Move the directional control lever to the NEUTRAL (N) position.

4. Engage park brake.

5. Raise front of utility vehicle with a safe lifting device.

6. Lubricate one grease fitting (A) on each king pin axle arm with the preferred grease or an equivalent.

7. Lower vehicle.

Adjust Cargo Box Latch

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Use extreme caution when using tools, wires or metal objects near batteries. A short circuit and/or spark could cause an explosion. Wrap tools with vinyl tape to prevent shorting out of batteries.

NOTE: The vehicle cargo box should not rattle during transport if the latch is properly adjusted.


WRENCH

1. Park vehicle on hard, level surface.

2. Turn the key switch to the OFF "0" position.

3. Move the directional control lever to the NEUTRAL (N) position.

4. Engage park brake.

5. Move the service/drive switch to the SERVICE position.

6. Lift and secure cargo box in the raised position.

7. Loosen both latch bolts (A).

NOTE: Preliminarily adjust latch plate
2mm 1mm (.08 in. .04 in.) above the lower edge of the cargo box latch backplate (B).

8. Slide latch (C) up or down as desired to secure cargo box more firmly to the vehicle frame.

9. Tighten bolts (A).

NOTE: Make sure the cargo box support rod (D) properly rests on the nose of the latch plate.

The cargo box will be difficult to latch and unlatch if the position of the latch plate is adjusted too high.

10. Lower cargo box.

11. Check and adjust latch as necessary.

Cleaning and Polishing Plastic Hood and Fenders

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! To keep scratches on plastic parts to a minimum, do not rub or brush off any parts with bare hands, use a soft cloth (i.e. cheese cloth) or a light flow of compressed air. For dirt, wash with a steady stream of water only (no detergent), then blow off excess water with air.


1. Use water to remove excess dust or dirt.

2. When surface is dry, spray on PLEDGE®1 and leave for 30 to 60 seconds.

3. Using a dry soft clean cloth (i.e. cheesecloth) wipe off to bring up lustre.
