Service Intervals

Beginning Of Season

Adjust belt tension.

Lubricate countershaft.

Lubricate worm gear and chute.


Grease


MIF

Use grease based on the expected air temperature range during the service interval.

ˇ SAE Multipurpose EP Grease with 3 to 5 percent molybdenum disulfide.

ˇ SAE Multipurpose EP Grease.

ˇ Greases meeting Military Specification MIL-G-10924C may be used as arctic grease.

Lubricating Countershaft

Lubricate shaft at point (A) with multipurpose EP grease or an equivalent.

Lubricating Worm Gear and Chute

Apply multipurpose EP grease or an equivalent on worm gear (A) and between chute (B) and chute base.

Adjusting Drive Belt Tension

1. Pivot tightening lever (A) forward and lock under snowthrower frame to tighten belt.

2. Loosen nut (B) on left idler.

3. Loosen jam nut (C).

4. Belt tension is CORRECT WHEN idler arm (D) is PARALLEL with welded frame (E) as shown.

5. Adjust nut (F) if needed.

6. Tighten jam nut (C).

7. Tighten nut on left idler.

Replacing Shear Bolt

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Replacement shear bolts MUST BE same as original shear bolts on your snowthrower:

ˇ Softer bolts may shear too easily.

ˇ Harder bolts may not shear and snowthrower may be damaged.


1. STOP the tractor.

2. LOCK the park brake.

3. Remove the key.

4. Find and correct the cause for shearing.

5. Remove spare shear bolt (A) from bracket.

6. Install new shear bolt (B) in rotor.

Reversing or Replacing Scraper Blade

Reverse scraper blade when edge is rough or worn. Replace blade if it is bent.

1. Remove eight bolts (A).

2. Reverse or replace blade (B).

3. Fasten scraper blade with bolts.

Adjusting Worm Gear

1. Loosen nut (A).

2. Move worm gear against teeth on discharge chute.

3. Tighten nut.

Replacing Auger Drive Belt

1. Remove six bolts (A) and remove belt cover.

2. Place wrench on idler bolt (B) and lift upward.

NOTE: If necessary, idler arm can be held up by placing punch in hole (C) behind idler on support plate.

3. Remove old belt.

4. Install new belt as shown.

5. Install belt cover.

Replacing Drive Belt

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Check position of belt guides after you install snowthrower on tractor: Guides MUST NOT touch belt.


1. Remove snowthrower from tractor.

2. Loosen nuts (A) on idlers to loosen guides (B).

3. Remove belt from idlers.

4. Loosen bolt (C) and pivot belt guide (D) away from belt.

5. Remove old belt.

6. Install new belt:

ˇ Put belt around sheave (E) with belt under idler (F).

ˇ Put belt guide (D) close to belt and tighten guide bolt.

NOTE: Support for idlers (G) needs to be parallel with center line of tractor.

ˇ Put belt around idlers (G) and tighten belt guide bolts.

ˇ Inspect belt installation for no twists in belt.

7. Install snowthrower.

8. Adjust belt tension.
