Storing MachineEnd Of Season Storage1. Clean engine. Clogging of cooling fins may cause serious damage. 3. Add John Deere Storage Stabilizer or equivalent to fuel tank. Follow directions on can. ˇ Run engine 5 minutes so stabilizer reaches the carburetor. ˇ Run engine with fuel valve (B) shut off. Engine will continue to run for a few minutes. ˇ After engine stops completely, pull toggle completely REARWARD (toward operator). ˇ Change engine oil when engine is warm.
ˇ Disconnect plug wire and remove spark plug. Squirt 30 mL ˇ Cover spark plug hole with rag. ˇ Slowly pull starter one full stroke. ˇ Install spark plug. DO NOT connect spark plug wire. ˇ Pull starter handle slowly until some resistance (engine compression) is felt and leave in that position. ˇ Store unit with engine base as level as possible. ˇ Touch up paint where needed. Removing From Storage1. Check and clean spark plug and connect plug wire. 2. Check spark plug gap. (See Service - Engine section). 3. Check engine oil. (See Service - Engine section). 4. Clean or replace air cleaner element. (See Service - Engine section). 6. Start engine. Run engine 3-5 minutes before operating the machine. |
