Service Interval Chart


Before Servicing Cutting Unit

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Do not clean, lubricate, or adjust machine while it is running.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! The recommended intervals in the Service Intervals section are based on normal
conditions. Severe or unusual conditions may require shorter intervals.


Cleaning Cutting Unit



Service Interval Chart

FIRST 5 HOURS

Check drive belt tension.

EVERY 10 HOURS

Lubricate greens tender conditioner (GTC) or rotary brush.

Wash air precleaner if used in very dusty conditions. (Thereafter every 25 hours.)

Lubricate reel.

Lubricate input drives to ground drive chain.

Lubricate input drives to reel drive chain.

AFTER THE FIRST 20 HOURS

Change engine oil.

Tighten nuts and screws.

Clean sediment bowl.

EVERY 25 HOURS

Lubricate front roller.

Lubricate rear roller.

Clean air cleaner foam element.

Check gear case oil level.

EVERY 50 HOURS

Clean fuel sediment bowl.

Check air cleaner paper element.

Lubricate knife shoe bolts.

Lubricate drive control grease zerks.

Lubricate adjusting knobs.

Change engine oil.

Check transport wheels (if equipped).

EVERY 100 HOURS

Clean spark plug and adjust gap.

Clean cylinder and cylinder head cooling fins.

EVERY 300 HOURS

Remove carbon from cylinder, cylinder head, and piston.
(See your John Deere Dealer.)

Check valves. Reface or replace as necessary.

Check and adjust valve clearance.
(See your John Deere Dealer.)

Change air cleaner paper element. (More often in dusty conditions.)

YEARLY OR EVERY 500 HOURS

Drain and refill gear case.

Check and Adjust drive chain.

Check spark plug and drive belts.
