Service Steering & BrakesRemoving Front Wheel1. Remove lock nut (A), one side. 3. Inspect roller bearings (C), both sides, for excessive wear, nicks, burrs, etc. Replace if necessary. 4. Install threaded axle (B) and tighten lock nuts torque to 33 N·m (24 lb-ft.), both sides. NOTE: Overtightening of front wheel bolt may result in bearing damage. Adjusting Steering Chain1. Remove steering wheel, by first prying off the John Deere emblem (A). 2. Unscrew the nut from the steering column and pull steering wheel up and off of the column. 3. Remove two screws (B) and tilt the dash forward. 4. Tighten nut (C) so spring (D) is collapsed, then back out the hex nut 3 flats, this keeps the steering tight. 5. Reverse assembly from above and torque steering column nut to 33 N·m (24 lb-ft.). |
