Service Intervals


Servicing Your Machine

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Operating in extreme conditions may require more frequent service intervals:

ˇ Engine components may become dirty or plugged when operating in extreme heat, dust or other severe conditions.

ˇ Engine oil and spark plugs may lose efficiency if vehicle is operated constantly at slow or low engine speeds or with frequent short trips.


Please use the following timetables to perform routine maintenance on your machine.

Break-In - After First 5 Hours of Operation

ˇ Check tire pressure.

ˇ Check for loose hardware.

ˇ Check hoses for premature wear.

ˇ Tighten wheel bolts.

ˇ Check parking brake and adjust if necessary.

Break-In - After First 50 Hours of Operation

ˇ Inspect alternator and fan belt for wear and tension.

ˇ Check/tighten air and cooling hose clamps.

ˇ Check fuel filter/sediment bowl.

ˇ Change engine oil and filter.

ˇ Change hydraulic oil filter.

Every 50 Hours

ˇ Check tire pressure.

ˇ Check wheel bolt torque.

ˇ Grease steering cylinder.

ˇ Grease rear axle.

ˇ Grease return-to-neutral bearing (3215B only).

Every 100 Hours

ˇ Inspect alternator and fan belt for wear and tension.

ˇ Check/tighten air and cooling hose clamps

ˇ Check parking brake and adjust as necessary.

ˇ Change engine oil and filter.

Every 500 Hours

ˇ Check coolant freeze point and clarity.1

ˇ Change hydraulic oil and filter.

ˇ Adjust engine valve clearance. See your John Deere dealer.

ˇ Inspect fuel injectors. See your John Deere dealer.

ˇ Check and adjust engine idle speed. See your John Deere dealer.

Every 600 Hours

ˇ Change fuel filter and clean sediment bowl.

Replace Only When Indicated By Air Restriction Indicator

ˇ Replace air cleaner paper element.

Every 1000 Hours or Seasonal

ˇ Grease/adjust rear wheel bearings (2WD).

ˇ Replace fuel filter.

ˇ Compression check. See your John Deere dealer.

ˇ Clean radiator fins.

ˇ Inspect engine compartment hoses.

ˇ Check and adjust belt tension.

ˇ Check cutting unit roller and reel bearings.

Every 2000 Hours or 2 Years

ˇ Flush cooling system and replace coolant.2

Every 3000 Hours or 3 Years

ˇ Flush cooling system and replace coolant.3
