1. Gas Model: Put John Deere Gasoline Storage Stabilizer or an equivalent in fuel tank. Follow directions on the can.
3. Change engine oil and filter when engine is warm. (See Changing Engine Oil and Filter in the Service-Engine section.) 4. Repair worn or damaged parts. Install new parts if necessary. 7. Lubricate all grease points-wipe off excess grease. NOTE: Start engine and run for a couple of minutes to remove water. Stop engine. 8. Clean engine and area around it. Remove oil, grease, and dirt. 9. Check engine compartment hoses. 10. Inspect engine combustion chamber. 11. Inspect engine valves and seats. 13. Check engine coolant level and freeze point. 15. Clean oil cooler coils and radiator cooling fins. 17. Apply paint to areas that need it to prevent rust. 18. Remove and clean battery. Check electrolyte level. Charge battery. Store battery in a cool, dry place to preserve battery life. 19. Store mower in a dry, protected place. If storing mower outside, put a waterproof cover over it. 20. Put blocks or stands under mower to take weight off tires. Let 1/3 of air out of tires. 21. Clean belts with a damp rag. Check belts for damage. 26. Apply multipurpose lubricant on exposed cylinder rods. 27. Clean all cutting units to remove grass cuttings and dirt. 29. Apply a coating of oil to cutting reel and bottom blade. Spray John Deere Multipurpose spray lubricant on rollers. Do not wipe off. This will work as a good rust preventative. Removing Greensmower From Storage
ˇ Correct tire pressure is between 69-83 kPa 2. Check and tighten wheel hardware. ˇ Tighten wheel hardware alternately to 81-95 Nˇm (60-70 lb-ft.). 3. Wipe grease off cutting units. 4. Check battery electrolyte level. Charge battery if necessary. Install battery. 6. Check hydraulic oil level in reservoir. 7. Lubricate all grease points. 8. Install cutting units if removed. 9. Check hoses (air intake, fuel, hydraulic, cooling system), clamps, and connections. 10. Be sure shields and guards are in place. 12. Fill fuel tank with fresh clean fuel. 13. Run engine five minutes at slow-medium idle before putting engine under load. |
