Servicing Your Machine

Please use the following timetables to perform routine maintenance on your machine.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! If you operate mower in extreme heat, dust or other severe conditions, service more often than shown below.


Daily-Greensmower

ˇ Check fuel tank, fill if necessary.

ˇ Check engine oil level.

ˇ Check hydraulic oil level.

ˇ Check coolant levels.

ˇ Check and clean grill screen.

ˇ Check for oil leaks.

ˇ Check brake pedal operation.

ˇ Check forward/reverse travel pedal operation.

ˇ Diesel Model: Check air restriction indicator.

ˇ Diesel Model: Check rubber dust unloading valve.

ˇ Diesel Model: Check fuel sediment bowl.

ˇ Test safety systems.

Daily-Cutting Units

ˇ Lubricate front and rear rollers (12 places).

ˇ Lubricate cutting reel roller bearings (6 places).

Break In - After First 20 Hours

ˇ Check for loose hardware.

ˇ Check tire pressure.

Every 25 Hours

ˇ Gas Model: Clean air cleaner element-foam precleaner.

Break In - After First 50 Hours

ˇ Change engine oil and filter.

ˇ Tighten wheel nuts and bolts.

ˇ Change hydraulic oil filter.

Every 50 Hours

ˇ Check tire pressure.

ˇ Lubricate cutting unit yoke pivots (3 places).

ˇ Lubricate lift arm pivots (3 places).

ˇ Lubricate rear axle pivot spindle (1 place).

ˇ Lubricate rear axle wheel bearings (1 place).

ˇ Lubricate neutral eccentric (1 place).

Every 100 Hours

ˇ Tighten wheel bolts and nuts.

Every 200 Hours

ˇ Change engine oil and filter.

ˇ Diesel Model: Clean fuel sediment bowl.

ˇ Diesel Model: Check alternator belt wear and tension.

ˇ Gas Model: Check fan belt wear and tension.

ˇ Check air intake and cooling hose clamps.

ˇ Clean radiator cooling fins and oil cooler coils.

ˇ Gas Model: Replace air cleaner paper element.

Every 600 Hours

ˇ Change hydraulic oil and filter.

ˇ Clean hydraulic suction line strainer.

ˇ Change coolant1.

ˇ Gas Model: Check spark plugs.

ˇ Diesel Model: Replace fuel filter and clean sediment bowl.

ˇ Check park brake adjustment.

ˇ Check fuel injectors. (See your John Deere dealer.)

ˇ Check valve clearance. (See your John Deere dealer.)

As Needed

ˇ Adjust transmission neutral.

ˇ Adjust neutral lock.

ˇ Gas Model: Replace spark plugs.

ˇ Gas Model: Replace fan belt.

ˇ Diesel Model: Replace alternator belt.

ˇ Diesel Model: Replace primary air cleaner element.

ˇ Diesel Model: Replace secondary air cleaner element.

ˇ Replace battery.

ˇ Replace indicator light bulbs.

ˇ Replace fuse.

ˇ Replace radiator hoses.

ˇ Adjust park brake.

Yearly

ˇ Check coolant freeze point and clarity.

ˇ Gas Model: Replace fuel filter.

ˇ Clean battery.
