Installing The Mower Deck
1. Park Front Mower safely. Raise lift arms.
2. Roll mower deck under Front Mower, lifting drive shaft (A) up and over lift arms and transaxle while pushing deck under Front Mower.
3. Start engine and lower lift arms (B) down into mower deck lift arm brackets (C).
4. Install lift arm pins (D) as shown through mower deck lift arm bracket and lift arm. Install spring pins (E) through lift arm pins.
5. Check decal on front of mower deck to find height front caster wheels are set at. Lift rear of deck and install rear deck hanger pin (F) into hole in height adjustment plate (G) that matches the height of front caster wheels. Install retainer ring (H) into end of pin.

6. Lift and latch the seat platform in the highest position.
7. Connect the mower deck driveline (I) to the Front Mower PTO drive shaft (J) as follows:
a. Push the coupler (K) onto the shaft (J). (It may be necessary to turn the mower deck driveshaft to align the spline of the two shafts.)
b. Once the splines align and the driveshafts begin to couple, pull the coupler ring (K) forward and continue to push the mower deck driveshaft rearward onto the PTO shaft until the coupler locks in place.
d. Push and pull the coupler until you are sure it is locked on the shaft.
8. Lower the operator's seat platform.
Use Proper Ballast
Always install proper ballast when installing attachments onto the Front Mower to prevent tipping and loss of steering control when attachment is raised. Your John Deere dealer can provide the proper ballast for your attachment. The 60 Inch Commercial Mower Deck requires the following ballast:
Installing Lift Arms
1. Park Front Mower safely. Push implement lift lever forward to extend lift cylinder. Stop engine.
2. Assemble left lift arm (A), and right lift arm (B), onto rockshaft (C) as shown with four plastic flat washers (D) in place.

3. Install two lift pins (E) into center section of lift arm as shown, and secure with spring pins (F).
4. Using a floor jack or blocks under center of lift arm, raise up assembly until ends of rockshaft can be inserted into saddles in Front Mower frame, keeping plastic washers in place.
5. Install a rockshaft cap (G) on each end of the rockshaft and secure with four cap screws and lockwashers (H). Torque cap screws to (81 Nˇm) 60 ft-lb.
6. Raise lift arms and insert drilled pin (I) through lift arm weldment and rod end of lift cylinder. Secure drilled pin with spring pin (J).
