Storing Safely

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Engine exhaust fumes can cause sickness or death.

ˇ If it is necessary to run an engine in an enclosed area, use an exhaust pipe extension to remove the fumes.

ˇ Always try to work in a well ventilated area.

ˇ Do not store machine with fuel in tank in a building where fumes may reach an open flame or spark.

ˇ Allow engine to cool before storing in any enclosure.

ˇ Remove the battery and store it in a cool dry place where it will not freeze, and where children cannot reach it.

Preparing The Front Mower For Storage

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Fuel is flammable. Do not smoke while you service the fuel system. Wipe up spilled fuel immediately.


MIF

1. Repair worn or damaged parts before putting Front Mower into storage. Install new parts, if necessary.

2. Service the air cleaner.

3. Lubricate all grease points.

4. Clean the Front Mower.

5. Apply paint to areas that need it to prevent rust.

6. Service the battery:

ˇ Remove it.

ˇ Clean it.

ˇ Check the electrolyte level.

ˇ Charge the battery, if necessary.

ˇ Store it in a cool, dry place.

7. Store the Front Mower in a dry, protected place. If you store the Front Mower outside, put a waterproof cover over it.

8. Do not store the Front Mower with fuel in the tank in a building where fumes may reach an open flame or spark.

9. Put blocks or stands under the Front Mower to take weight off the tires. You may need to let one-third of air out of the tires.

Removing The Front Mower From Storage

1. Check the tire pressure.

2. Remove the blocks or stands from under the Front Mower.

3. Check the battery electrolyte level. Charge the battery, if necessary. Install the battery.

4. Lubricate the grease points.

5. Use a spring puller to install the end of the belt tension spring in its bracket.

6. Check the engine oil level.

7. Open the fuel shutoff valve.

8. Fill the fuel tank with fresh, clean fuel.

9. Run the engine 2-3 minutes before you put it under load.
